MY FATHER’S SON        Whitsett, NC       Project Initiation: 2012        Construction: August 2015 - 2016

Many things are passed down from generation to generation, not the least of which is a set of values and an attitude towards 'how things are done.' At the same time, one's identity is something always being fulfilled and affirmed by the way in which he acts upon the earth and unto others. The rural North Carolina site in which this project is grounded speaks of the generations of family who have imbued it with a special identity. Here, structures are built to last, they are meant to be handed down. And the ways they are used and made to accommodate subsequent generations weaves a rich history of which each can be proud in his own way.
